The Journey Behind Every Jar
The Journey Behind Every Jar
Nepali Mann Udhyog was born from Timmur (Sichuan pepper), the bold Himalayan spice that gives our products their unmistakable, lingering taste.
But before it became a brand, it was a woman’s resilience.
In 2008, after facing repeated failures in business, Basu Maya Tamang returned to what she knew best, cooking with care, patience, and tradition.
I didn’t start with a plan to build a company. I started with what I knew and honest food made by hand.
In her home kitchen, she began preparing plain Timmur Chhop, made simply with powdered chilli and Himalayan timmur, following recipes passed down through generations.
Basu Maya Tamang is a quiet force of resilience.
She took a deeply traditional recipe and gave it a future, introducing Nepal’s first commercial Timmur Chhop while keeping its soul intact.
Her journey is not just about food, but about courage, persistence, and believing that authenticity has value.
When food is made with honesty, it carries more than taste, it carries culture, strength, and memory.
Every jar we make follows the same values
Today, Nepali Mann Udhyog reaches homes across Nepal and 26 countries worldwide, carrying a taste of home across borders.
